Grammar Wizard
Grammar Wizard is an interactive grammar engine which is based on the Grammar Database. It will help you combine nouns, adjectives and prepositions correctly.
Grammar Wizard is available on the homepage just below the search box.
At present there are three grammatical patterns available in Grammar Wizard:
- Noun + Adjective
- Preposition + Noun
- Preposition + Noun + Adjective
To choose a pattern, click on the box at the top of Grammar Wizard and pick whichever one you want.
Noun + Adjective
To combine a noun and an adjective, pick a noun in the first box and an adjective in the second box. You can type them in or choose them from the dropdown lists.
The relevant information will then appear below Grammar Wizard. You’ll see information for singular and plural, nominative and genitive, with the definite article and without.
Preposition + Noun
To combine a preposition and a noun, pick a preposition in the first box and a noun in the second box. You can type them in or choose them from the dropdown lists.
The relevant information will then appear below Grammar Wizard. You’ll see information for singular and plural, with the definite article and without.
Note: The Grammar Wizard displays the rules governing the lenition (i.e. séimhiú) of the noun following the prepositions ‘ar’ and ‘thar’ in ordinary usage. Note, however, that there are certain cases in which the noun is not lenited (ar bord, thar ceann, etc).
