The Grammar Database is a facility which enables users to readily find grammatical information on words in Irish, e.g. gender, inflected forms of nouns and how they relate to the definite article; tenses, moods and forms of verbs; forms and use of adjectives etc.
In the compilation of the Grammar Database, grammatical data was sourced from WinGléacht, from focal.ie and from the New Corpus for Ireland, and was processed using the Gramadán application to organise and adapt it systematically. Editorial staff then carried out a final proofing of the data.
To look up the data for a word, simply type the word into the search box and click to display the grammatical information table. In addition to the main display, on the right of the screen is displayed an index of the neighbouring words for which there are grammar files in the Grammatical Database, while at the top of the screen an alphabetical index of the material is displayed.
